LUKA MODRIC AND MARCELO SIDELINED

Real Madrid is facing tough times at the moment. Cristiano Ronaldo returned from injury late last year and seems not to have reached his best levels, even though he is aging.

Gareth Bale was ruled out for three months despite already having an underwhelming season. Now playmaker-defender Marcelo has been ruled out. Luka Modric is also facing time out in a crucial season for the club.

The club is still facing a transfer ban and would have to wait until the summer to get reinforcement but Coach Zinedine Zidane is targeting breaking the European record of lifting the UEFA Champions League back to back. The La Liga is also up for grabs but the current team seem to need help. They ended their unbeaten run, face a threat of being knocked out in the Copa del Rey and their advantage in the La Liga seem to be sliding away gradually. This is a season the La Liga is a big priority, having not won the title since Jose Mourinho’s spell in charge. Keep Reading

Luka Modric is a silent midfielder that makes a loud noise

When people talk about Real Madrid, the names that usually come along are: Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or KarimBenzema.

Those are the players that always get the headlines and the center stage of the media as they are the ones that score most goals and are constantly sparking life with dribbling moves as well as flashy movements which are generally used to get past the opposing defenders.

In the world of football, the offensive players are the ones that receive more praise and recognition as they mark on the score-sheet on a more consistent basis than in comparison to any other performers in the rest of the squad.

Luka Modric is not a name that pops up as much as some of his teammates but nonetheless, the influence that the Croatian has in Real Madrid is huge as he is a player that is consistently providing passes to every single one of his partners located in the pitch.

If control is needed in the midfield, Modric is there to provide it. If speed is needed then the Croatian can do it as well, the former Tottenham Hotspur player is a complete midfielder who can inject anything that is needed for his team during a match. Keep Reading

Steve Evans may get Fired soon

Leeds United are set to manager Steve Evans over poor and inconsistent form throughout the 2015-16 season.

Owner Massimo Cellino did not openly admit that the change was going to happen, but he provided subtle hints that the club will be undergoing a managerial change once again in the summer. It was only recently that the club’s hopes of finishing in the play-off places was reinvigorated following a three match winning run. This came to an end after a 4-1 Huddersfield Town before the international break. The result left the club 13th in the table.

However, it will come as a surprise to know that the club are considering a managerial change in less than 12 months. Evans came to the club in October 2015. The Scotland boss claims that he does not feel that he has done a bad job at Elland Road. The club has suffered seven defeats in the league since October, which is a greater percentage than under previous management. Throughout the whole campaign, the club has lost 12 matches. The biggest problem for the club has been scoring goals, as they have managed exactly 1 goal per game. Keep Reading

MODRIC – ITALY GAME MATTERS

Croatia midfielder Luka Modric has said that the match against Italy will determine their chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Euro 2012.

Luka Modric was one of the outstanding players for Croatia in their 3-1 win over Republic of Ireland in the opening group match. Due to the fact that Croatia are in the group containing Spain and Italy, they are not the favourites to qualify for the next round. Despite this, the win against the Republic of Ireland coupled with the draw for both Spain and Italy in their heavyweight encounter has meant that Croatia have been given a great opportunity to progress to the next round.

However, Luka Modric has revealed that the team is not looking beyond the next match against Italy. Croatia and the Italy football team will be taking on each other on Thursday knowing that have been for Croatia could put them on the brink of qualification. The final group game for Croatia is against current world champions Spain. Modric, who has been subject to transfer rumours from Manchester United and Barcelona, has said that he would like the team to perform in the same way against Italy as they did against the Republic of Ireland.

‘That’s an amazing game for us as well. I hope we can repeat this performance on Thursday evening and I hope we can win against Italy as well. It is going to be a different game, but we have to prepare well, bring this performance and play like we did last night. It has given us confidence because we won. That game didn’t bother us that much and we were only focused on our game and how to win. Now we have four days to think about Italy. I hope we prepare well, like we did for the Ireland football team,’ said Modric.
