REAL MADRID’S MIDFIELDER’S INJURY SERIOUS, COULD BE RULED OUT UNTIL JANUARY

Real Madrid have been recently boosted by the return of Luka Modric and Karim Benzema. But while these two lynchpins of the first-team return to action, the club have lost another valuable asset in the form of Dani Ceballos. According to Sergio Santos (h/t Jorge Picon), the midfielder has picked up a hamstring injury ahead of the Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk. The initial suggestions regarding his hamstring injury are not positive and everything indicates that the midfielder will not return to the pitch until after the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Nothing has been confirmed as of yet. But Ceballos is expected to undergo an MRI scan on Thursday in order to determine the full extent of the injury. He is likely to be ruled out for a significant period, which could serve as a major headache for coach Carlo Ancelotti. Ceballos is by no means a regular in Real Madrid’s starting eleven. But he was a pivotal piece to the club’s strength in depth, especially in the midfield unit. Keep Reading

CROATIA: MODRIC EXTENDS APPEARANCE RECORD

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has extended his lead at the top of the list of players with the most appearances for Croatia on the senior international stage.The former Dinamo Zagreb and Tottenham Hotspur playmaker extended his record when he led Croatia out against France in the UEFA Nations League last week.Modric scored the winner in the fifth minute to lead Croatia to an impressive away win over the world champions.


Luka Modriccame into the France game with 151 appearances for Croatia and 17 more than retired right-back DarijoSrna on 134 appearances. The Real Madrid midfield maestro extended his record over Shakthar Donetsk legend Srnato 18 with appearance number 152 against the reigning UEFA Nations League champions. During his time with the Croatian senior  team, Srna scored 22 goals in 134 games over a 14-year period from 2002 to 2016. Luka Modric also has 22 goals, but in 18 more appearances.

SPURS’ INTEREST IN BASTONI CONFIRMED

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan centre back Alessandro Bastoni. This is according to the report from  The Telegraph which stated that the North London giants have their eyes on the 22-year-old Italian international.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte wants to add a new centre back to his squad and Bastoni is said to be high on the list. Conte could only strengthen his squad in the centre midfield and attacking midfield positions during last month’s transfer window, but the expectation is that other areas such as defencewould be addressed in the summer. Tottenham Hotspur signed the duo of central midfielder Rodrigo Bentacur and DejanKulusevski. Uruguayan international Bentacur joined Spurs in a permanent deal, while Swedish winger Kulusevski signed for them on an 18-month loan deal with the option of making it a permanent deal.

In his post-match press conference, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was quoted as saying that Luka Modric was spectacular as he congratulates him on his performance.The Real Madrid boss also said that Luka Modric was excellent without the ball against rivals Atletico Madrid.

WHY MODRIC MISSED OUT ON QUALIFIERS

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is undoubtedly the star player of the Croatian senior national team but he was missing in all their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month. Luka Modric missed all the three qualifiers due to the muscle injury picked up while in club action last month. The petite midfielder opted to join up with the team despite the injury and Croatia were able to pick up two wins and one draw from the three qualifiers without him on the pitch.

 

Luka Modric is the Croatian national team skipper and he was absent as Croatia began their World Cup qualifiers this month with a goalless draw against hosts Russia. Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic then scored a late goal to give Croatia a slim 1-0 win at the expense of hosts Slovakia. Modric also missed the game against Slovakia. Keep Reading

MODRIC RELISHES THE CHANCE TO WORK WITH ANCELOTTI AGAIN

As with other players in the Real Madrid squad, the Los Blancos midfielder Luka Modric has claimed that he is already looking forward to working with Ancelotti again after the Italian manager was confirmed as the club’s new manager. Ancelotti has been assigned to take over the managerial job at Madrid after Zinedine Zidane left his role as the club’s boss by mutual consent. Zidane, immediately after stepping down as Real Madrid manager, claimed that the main reason why he made the decision was that the club no longer showed faith in him so he had to take considerable action.

As at the time Zidane was deciding to step down from the Madrid job, Ancelotti was still managing Everton but he was immediately contacted by Madrid president Florentino Perez after Zidane’s departure. It will be the second time that Ancelotti will be the Real Madrid manager, and a couple of players in the squad, including Modric, are already buzzing to work with their former manager once again.

MODRIC: MADRID WILL FIGHT FOR EVERY TROPHY NEXT SEASON

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has revealed that the Los Blancos will be prepared to fight for every available title next season after the Spanish La Liga giants failed to win a single silverware in the just-concluded football season.
