MADRID TO RECALL ODEGAARD TO REPLACE MODRIC

There are rife reports in Sociedad that their star midfielder Martin Odegaard would be recalled by Real Madrid to replace the aging Luka Modric this summer. The youngster was due to stay at the La Liga side as a loanee for one more season based on the two-term agreement with Madrid. However, Zinedine Zidane has decided to bring the player back to the Bernabeu as part of his rebuilding effort.

The Norwegian player impressed this season, scoring seven times and assisting eight goal in 28 games. Madrid plan to integrate him as part of rebuilding effort and it could start this summer. The fans are excited that the player could play for the club for many years as he is only 21. He was the poster boy for a rising star that got lost in loan deals after impressing in the early years of his career.

Rising from Real Madrid Castilla in 2014, he got a deal with the club in 2016. He has been on loan spells at Heerenveen, Vitesse and Real Sociedad. Now he is having his first breakthrough season in the league as a professional.

He is touted as the man to replace Modric, learning from him in the next season as Modric winds down his contract with Madrid. Since joining for 35 million Euros in 2012, the Croatian has been an integral player in the squad but now age has caught up with him. Rather than left him off for 12 million Euros based on current market value, Madrid will retain his services before his deal lapses next summer, while he helps groom the next generation of stars to take over, including Odegaard.
